KAYAC has decided to suspend its plans for a 2021 Motherland Excursion
Dear Students and Parents:
We want to notify you of a difficult decision we have reached regarding this year’s Motherland Excursion Program.
Regretfully, KAYAC has decided to suspend its plans for a 2021 Motherland Excursion based on the strong likelihood that Korea will continue to impose a mandatory 2-week quarantine period for all incoming travelers through the summer. Although we initially planned to make the decision in April, we thought it best to make the decision as early as possible in the application cycle.
You now have the option of submitting an application by the end of March for next year’s program or you can wait until next year to submit. For any completed applications KAYAC receives this month, we will follow our normal review process and select participants for the 2022 program.
Please note that we will not accept scholarship applications until 2022.
For those who apply and are selected this year, KAYAC intends to offer an opportunity during the summer to engage with you and for you to get to know one another. More details to come.
We understand you will be disappointed with this news. KAYAC’s highest priority is to offer the Motherland Excursion program every summer and we are disheartened that we will not be able to offer it in 2021.
While much progress has been made toward ending the Covid-19 pandemic, it will take more time before mandatory quarantines and precautions for travel between the US and Korea are no longer necessary.
We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to resuming our Motherland Excursion program in 2022.
